Canblaster
A major yet discreet figure on the French electronic scene for almost fifteen years, Cédric Steffens, aka Canblaster, is an artist universally respected and admired by his producer and DJ peers, as well as beyond the club circuit and niche labels.
He started out his career by producing soundtracks for video games while he was still in high school, before immersing himself in techno, UK garage, rave and house at the end of the 2000s. He quickly established a name for himself both as a solo artist and as a member of the legendary quartet Club Cheval, alongside Myd, Panteros666 and Sam Tiba. He laid the foundations very early on for what would become Canblaster’s signature sound: hyperactive and romantic at the same time, obsessed with the miracle of groove and the idea of the future.
Considered by many as a gifted electronic composer and producer, as well as being prolific and a perfectionist in equal measures, he released heavy-hitting EPs on Marble, Bromance and Pelican Fly. Building on these highly acclaimed releases, he worked with Lido, Theophilus London and even Kanye West, and remixed Charli XCX, A.G. Cook and Cashmere Cat.
In 2016, he locked himself in his studio, surrounded by his new modular synthesizers. The result from these past few years is LIBEROSIS. A huge, long-term project which will embody — in different phases — the breadth and versatility of the artist as he finally emerges from this long period of experimentation and maturation.
Dj Slow
Behind every great crew lies a head honcho, a shot caller and for Belgium's Pelican Fly label it's DJ Slow who’s playing the role of figure head, CEO of the groundbreaking label. Acting as the label's A&R and head DJ, making sure the fountain of vibes is well maintained. All of this would be nothing however if DJ Slow wasn't an expertly skilled selector and digger. Voted two years in row as DJ #1 for the DJ MAG TOP 100 by Brodinski (even if he wasn't in the list). He manages to find a tasteful balance of North American Urban Club music with European sophistication. For example, blending the far reaching sounds of ATL rap with Jersey club into House Music into sleazy Techno and the rawness of UK Grime into a perfect cohesive structure. DJ Slow has also been selected for the 2013 edition of the Red Bull Music Academy where he will perform in New York City this Spring.
